The Wednesday, Aug. 12, fire at 36 Ames St., is being investigated by the Springfield Arson And Bomb Squad, the Springfield Fire Department said.

The people who lost their home were a family, WesternMass News reported: a mother, father, and five children. The family’s five pets were able to make it out of the house. The mother said electrical work was being done to the home around the time of the fire.

The family is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
